Communication 101: The Value of Being Honest With Your Realtor

As it turns out, buying a home is a lot like sailing a boat or building an automobile: it takes teamwork. In fact, Henry Ford famously said, “Coming together is the beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”

Your relationship with your Realtor is crucial and it is important to us here at RE/MAX Island Real Estate Belize that you feel heard, valued, and understood. So, unless you’re sending some pretty intense vibes, the best way to make that happen is to talk to us. Really. You won’t hurt our feelings. Worried that we’ll be disappointed with your budget? Don’t be; we’ve worked with budgets of all sizes. Afraid that we’ll find your deepest desires silly? Please. The more detailed your wish list, the more confident we are that can help you find your dream home.

Here’s the way it works: you tell us what you want (what you really, really want), and we will find everything within your price range that comes close to meeting that wish list. Be open with us, and we promise, we will be open with you.  We know Belize real estate and we work with it every day. If there is something on your list that simply does not exist, we’ll let you know. We will also come up with alternatives you may not have considered. For example, maybe you dream of a new home with three baths. If that is not realistic, we will try to come up with alternatives that will make you equally happy. Maybe it’s an unbeatable view of the water or perhaps it’s a home within walking distance of your favorite restaurant. The point is, we’ll figure it out together.

First things first, though. Tell us how you prefer to communicate. Do you still enjoy picking up the phone, or would you prefer to text or email? Let us know your preferred method of communication and we will make sure we’re on the same page. Though it may sound odd, tell us if you’ve had a bad experience with a real estate transaction in the past. Knowing what happened will help us avoid making the same mistake. If you felt as though an agent blew you off, or conversely, bothered you too much, we want to know. If the closing process made you so anxious that it was difficult to enjoy buying your home, we can help by carrying the load. We want you to feel comfortable enough with us to share because honestly, it allows us to do our job in the most efficient manner possible.

The point is, we’re here to help. The best way we can be your teammate on this new and exciting journey is if the relationship is rich with communication. If that feels a bit radical to you, it’s alright. When you buy Belize you buy a way of life.  It’s not as though we are like any other real estate company in the world.

The decision to invest in Belize may well be one of the easiest and smartest decisions you make. It is fast becoming one of the most popular destinations in the Caribbean for vacationers as well as for those who work in global markets as an ideal place to call home. Being a part of the British Commonwealth brings added benefits that make doing business in Belize a snap: it is primarily English speaking, it enjoys a peaceful and conflict-free political environment, and its democratic climate opens the doors to opportunities from business sectors that go beyond the more visible markets of real estate and tourism.
