From the start, this office (Shane Pohlke) was very organized and professional. Coming from the US, it's always difficult coordinating looking at properties while on vacation and he made it fun! I would highly recommend Rob and his staff at RE/MAX for a property purchase in San Pedro. Rob is extremely courteous and professional. He assisted in explaining all the requirements along the way for purchasing in Belize. He is very prompt with returning any calls or messages. I cannot say enough, how about how professional, patient and knowledgeable, Shane was as he guided us through the whole process of purchasing a home in Ambergris Caye. His communication was TOP NOTCH! His replies were instant, and he thoroughly answered every question we asked, or made sure to research any inquiry we had. It is a new and often times intimidating experience to purchase a property in a location that you are not familiar with, but Rob helped every step of the way. I have been looking at purchasing a property in Belize for years. On my last trip to San Pedro we managed to recieve the help of Robert Colon at ReMax. He took us to both empty lots and a residence that was for sale on the beach. Robert went out of his way to research what was available as well as to spend time with us to examine the possibilities. We have been coming to Ambergris Caye for over 30 years. We currently own some property on the South Side. Rob helped us find a beautiful lot on the North Side that we plan on building soon. He was patient and very helpful in giving us information to help us make an educated decision on the purchase. He was also very helpful during the negotiating process.

Despite the hurdles we inevitably faced while trying to purchase a home from a distance, he made the process pleasant and as seamless as possible. We traveled to Belize in 2016 and decided to come back in April 2017 and purchase a parcel of land for a long-term investment in this incredible paradise. We live in the Boston area. In advance of the trip, I did a search and emailed five agents, looking to set up a meeting when we visited again so I could get to know the person who would help us make a significant investment in a foreign country. If you are looking to buy in a foreign country, you know all the legitimate concerns you can have. I, at least, wanted to feel like I was working with an individual that was looking out for our interests. Only one of the five agents actually responded to me. The fifth was very responsive and nice... only to cancel literally the DAY before we left. I was disheartened.
So, we decided to walk into realty offices in San Pedro after getting off the plane before going to our hotel. The first door we entered was REMAX. We met Rob and found out he as part owner of the agency. That definitely helped lower my concerns and stress. After speaking for a bit to understand our preferences, we set up a meeting for showings the next day. Rob took us out in his boat and we had a wonderful day learning about the country and seeing great land options. The third property was the parcel of our dreams. We committed and the purchase went through after title cleared.
I definitely do not suggest walking in the door of a realtor without doing your research. We feel extremely fortunate and ridiculously lucky to have found Rob. I cannot speak more highly of our interactions with him and the ease of the transaction on such a significant and intricate purchase. We look forward to being his neighbor at some point!read more
